Becoming a mentor has been very eye opening for me. As a teacher who only has 4 years of experience I felt as though I would not be able to help another educator grow. When the program began, I put my uneasiness aside and approached my new venture with positivity. Now this process has taught me more than I could have imagined. Providing support both in and out of the classroom for someone else has become the best part of this semester. Through this new role I have been able to impact a fellow teacher, and there is nothing more rewarding than that. I have now had the opportunity to be with my novice teacher as she tries new practices, implements new procedures, and finds what works best for her and her students. Through mentoring I have learned that educators never stop learning. Overall, we are all in need of a support system and it feels comforting knowing I can provide that to someone who is in the same position I was just a few years ago.
