This seminar is specially designed for secondary mathematics teachers who want to more deeply engage their students with visualization and conceptualization of key math concepts using free Desmos Classroom Activities. Experienced secondary level math teacher Andy Malbouef will share practical, classroom-proven ways to build greater conceptual understanding using the Desmos Classroom Activities platform. A strong emphasis will be placed on using Computation Layer in engaging activities, and also helping participants create their own Computation Layer through several build-along activities. Overall I thought it was an excellent experience to see how Desmos can be utilized to enhance student engagement as well as enhance my teaching through the various activities that can be done. Some of the features it allows teachers to do is make connections between scenarios they encounter, look for patterns and represent those patterns mathematically, ask questions, and share misconceptions etc.
