Going through the tutoring Region 17 opened my eyes more productive ways to spend the time. It also gave me new ways to disperse the knowledge with the students.
The experience was successful in providing additional resources in regards to tutoring high needs students.
Overall I would say I learned a significant amount from these sessions. It was 3 sessions all over how to make tutoring effective towards our students. It was broken down into 6 different categories- relationships and building confidence, goals and learning to learn, and learning content for deliberate practice. From each section I learned something different but something that I agree with. I will say one of the most important things that Ashley Nelson said was that it makes a huge difference when you have a relationship with the student- you will have the trust and they will be more willing to work for you. Having each student set goals is something that we do starting at the beginning of the year and then they work towards that the entire year. I would definitely recommend this course to any educator that is needing some help with the tutoring process.
