Numeracy Specialist Program (12 hours) – Level 3 (Expert)
The Numeracy Specialist Program is a level 3 (Expert) training that is designed for classroom, special ed, and math support teachers. This program is a deep dive into math intervention. The 4 day course will help teachers develop a thorough understanding of primary numeracy, multiplication and division, and fractions. Once an understanding of the learning frameworks is unlocked, we will focus on creating student groups, selecting target skills with differentiation , transitioning between programs, progress monitoring and data tracking, alternative forms of assessment, and planning lessons and activities for students. This was 4 weeks in a row (Wednesdays) and the training was good. A lot of teachers were in this training. The training was on line and we had printed materials and packets with us that we could follow along with during the training. Overall, the timing was good, but at times sections of the training dragged on.
This plan gives more detailed instruction and additional materials to use in implementing the Numeracy Consultant Programs. It was very informative and allows plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get suggestions on improving the use of the free materials and the purchased part of the programs.
